meet the artist
Hello! My name is Abbey Partridge
I am a self taught artist from Minnesota. I was born with a rare a neuromuscular condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy which has led me to be a wheelchair user since I was two.
I have had an immense passion for art and all things creative since I got my first box of crayolas (shout out to tickle me pink™). After I graduated high school online, I opted out of college to travel and begin to pursue artwork beyond the doodle-y fashion sketches I’d spend hours making. I had no idea what I wanted to specialize in, nor did I have any official training — I just knew that it was going to be my purpose to teach myself and create. Fast forward 10 years (*insert GIF of Joey Tribbiani crying turning 30*) I found my greatest love to be oil painting with subjects ranging from landscapes and flowers, to cocktails and animals.
Although my disability plays a role in many aspects of my life including my art and how long it takes me to finish a piece, it will never define me. Currently there is no cure for SMA, but in recent years a life-changing drug treatment has helped slow and or stop the progress.
